Sophie Song

Sophie is a policy professional from Philadelphia with a background in software engineering and organizing.

 
Most recently, Sophie was a TechCongress Fellow working for Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) with focus on AI policy supporting a range of issues including privacy, labor, and algorithmic accountability. Prior to that Sophie was a national organizer at Movement Alliance Project where they led research, advocacy and coalition work combating algorithmic inequality in the Child Welfare System and other high stakes decision making contexts such as public benefits and the criminal legal system


They studied Computer Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology, and were a Civic Digital Fellow working as a data scientist at the US census Bureau and a former Google Intern. They also have experience in community, electoral and labor organizing in the Asian American community. Sophie is a former Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA) fellow and founding member of the APALA Philadelphia Chapter.
